B.S. in Early Childhood Education

This accelerated cohort program, offered by the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CCGPS) is designed to help qualified working adults complete a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K through 4th grade) in five terms (approximately 2 1/2 years, 63 credits).  Students who complete this program with a 3.0 GPA, have the PA certification requirements of two college math courses and two college English courses (one writing/composition and one literature), successfully pass their Praxis I and II tests, and complete student teaching at the graduate level are eligible for Pennsylvania State Certification.

The BS in Early Childhood Education is offered in Philadelphia, St. Davids, and Harrisburg.

Admission Requirements

  • Sixty credits or AA degree
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better (for credits transferred)
  • Preferred age of 21
  • Demonstration of appropriate writing abilities
  • Satisfactory submission of the Application for Admission and supporting documents including:
    • completed application (available online)      
    • essay (300-500 words. Should answer the question: How will a degree from Eastern benefit me in my work and in my life?)
    • resume (Should be current.)
    • all official transcripts from previously attended schools

Program Distinctiveness

The Term 6 (below) is elective and can be satisfied at the beginning of a master’s program (9 credits). Students who wish to student teach following graduation must be officially admitted into the M. Ed. in Multicultural Education. Students can opt to student teach only. They do not have to complete the entire master's degree.
