InterLibrary Loan (ILL)
What type of Interlibrary Loan is needed?
- EZ-Borrow Patron book loans can often be made directly from other libraries through the PALCI E-Z Borrow system. EZ-Borrow generally has a shorter delivery time than regular interlibrary loan for books. Patrons are encouraged to check for book titles in E-Z Borrow before filing an ILL book request. Often EZ-Borrow books can be received within 48 hours.
- Rapid ILL Many journal articles can be retrieved quickly from libraries in the Rapid ILL system, usually within 48 hours. The Rapid system requires the journal's ISSN number. If it is not listed on your citation, it can be found at OCLC's First Search site. Rapid is only used to request an article not available in the Library or the Library's databases. Please check the A to Z Journal List before submitting a request.
- Standard Interlibrary Loan -- Allow 10 business days for the processing of your interlibrary request. Select this option for books and remember that patrons who need chapters or articles from a book (rather than from a journal) should request the whole book for interlibrary loan. Be sure to include the volume title in your request! Select this form for journal articles. ILL should only be used to request an article not available in the Library or the Library's databases. Please check the A to Z Journal list before submitting a request.
