The mission of the Business Department is to prepare students to serve God
by giving them an opportunity to simultaneously obtain a quality liberal arts education
and a professional business education. Business majors will obtain academic breadth
through the University's Core curriculum. The Department embraces the Core because it
is designed to give a balance of natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, Christian
foundations and an opportunity to integrate all into a worldview. It is the further
desire of the Department that each student learns how to learn, to ask questions and to
search for answers.
In each undergraduate major the business courses are designed to give a
breadth of understanding in business and economics, and to build logic skills and
functional problem-solving skills, with which to enter the workplace. The educational combination a student receives in liberal
arts and business at Eastern University helps each student become a well-rounded person... a
person who appreciates knowledge and is better able to work within, and often change, the
world.
Majors within the Department will be challenged by the faculty to serve
God with their business training. Each person will be asked to consider the many
ways in which Christian business persons use their influence to ensure that profit and
products are consistent with Christian ethics. The focus of many of the courses
within the department will be on globalization, with the intention of enlightening
students' perspectives toward international business.
Eastern is a
university committed to excellence in Christian education. A commitment to
abound in faith and knowledge and in honesty and justice. God calls each person to
live a life committed to excellence in their work. The business curriculum at
Eastern is designed to start students on that road towards professional excellence.
