Student CCD Gallery : M16

M16: This immense cloud of dust and gas lies 7000 light years away from the sun. It is a 'stellar nursery,' where new stars are being born through gravitational collapse. The cloud emits bright red light, glowing from the energy flowing from the stars it surrounds.
